Rachel asks: I’ve had rosacea my whole life but the only I get the more I hate it. I know there aren’t any cures, but is there at least anything I can do to make it less obvious?
Rosacea tends to make people red-faced in more ways than one. With so much airbrushing and Photoshop, when someone’s skin is flawed (or I believe to think of it as human) that person becomes embarrassed.
I want to tell you there is nothing to be ashamed about for having rosacea. It is just the way God made you! But if it is frustrating you and making you feel ashamed, there are a few things you can try.
However keep in mind that you can’t actually cure rosacea. Sorry about that! There are still some great remedies that can minimize the appearance of rosacea and more importantly, make you confident in your own skin. So lets begin!
1. Cucumber Mask
In addition to your conventional treatments, this natural home rosacea remedy might just do the trick. Apart from being deliciously fresh, cucumbers also have soothing properties.
Blend up some cucumber (depending on the size, one should be fine) and smooth it on your face. Resist the urge to eat it for the next thirty minutes. Rinse your face with cool water and you’re good to go.
You should notice a change after a month of daily use. For the amazing results, thirty minutes a day really isn’t bad at all!
2. Chamomile Compress
Okay so let’s say you really want to soften the redness of rosacea and have time to kill. Try making a chamomile compress to handle rosacea-related flareups.
Make a mild compress with chamomile oil and leave it in the fridge. Dampen a cloth in this mixture and once you feel a flare-up place it on your face for fifteen to twenty minutes.
However some individuals have a sensitivity to chamomile. If you have responses to daisies, marigolds, and ragweed you will likely have a sensitivity to chamomile.
3. Herbal Paste
In Janice Cox’s novel, she recommends this brilliant and effective solution to minimise the appearance of rosacea. Mix two tablespoons fresh milk, two teaspoons of turmeric powder and four teaspoons of coriander powder.
For the best results, remember to keep the mixture in the fridge. Use the paste as a face mask two times a day for ten minutes.
4. Aloe Vera
Where would a list of home remedies for rosacea be without mentioning aloe vera? This wonderful concoction is great for many kinds of burns and inflammations – rosacea included.
Aloe vera can be taken both orally and topically as a cream. Hey if you wanted to, you could take it both ways! However it is suggested to only be used twice a day. So don’t use it orally and topically twice!
5. Green Tea
The great thing about using green tea to help rosacea, is it’s so easily accessible. So instead of searching high and low for horse chestnuts or rose hip oil, just go to your cupboard and pick out some green tea.
According to Natural Alternative Remedy, Green tea has anti-inflammatory, anticarcinogenic, and antioxidant properties that work brilliantly to take care of rosacea. TLDR; it gets to the core of the problem!
